Employees opt in verbally during hiring at Smokey Glen Farm Barbequers, Inc. The hiring manager collects the employee’s mobile phone number and reads: “When we schedule you to work, Smokey Glen Farm will text you your shifts for the coming week. You’ll reply C to confirm each shift or D to decline. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Receiving these texts is optional and is not a condition of employment. Is that okay?” The employee’s mobile number is recorded for scheduling texts only after they agree.
